The Project
When I was eleven, my teacher asked me to illustrate a charitable book that changed my life. Illustrating Tiny’s Grand Adventure to raise money for Helping Hands, a charity that trains capuchin monkeys to be the hands and companions of paralyzed people gave me a voice and a reason to create art other than for myself. Kevin (the 17-year-old author) and I submitted our charitable monkey book project to the IWitness Video Challenge (Spielberg's humanitarian contest), and we ended up being one of the five finalists in North America in 2014.
